The White Roses: Song/Artist of the Week

Written by Cheyenne Davey

Artist of the week: The White Roses

The White Roses are a Yorkshire based indie rock/pop band that's been rocking together for just over a year. The band consists of Ellie Robinson (vocals), Jack Maw (lead guitar), Tom Lepard (drums), and Charlie Edwards (bass). The band combined classic rock guitars and vocals with a modern twist of synths. Later this year in August, The White Roses are set to record at Abbey Road Studios for their upcoming EP.

Song of the week: "If I Could" by The White Roses

"If I Could" was released August 18, 2023 and is the final single release from their upcoming EP that's set to release later this year. "If I Could" is a relatable song about unrequited love and sharing your deepest desires for the one person who doesn't love you back. The song is high energy and very pop/rock. It has elements of pop songs while also having classic rock roots. The song is very bouncy and catchy, something you can easily dance along and sing your heart out to. It also has fun guitar riffs and drums that are more akin to rock music. This combo makes it enjoyable to a wider variety of people as it gives you a little taste of genres that are effortlessly blended together. Ellie's vocals are smooth and gorgeous, making the song sound dreamy. If "If I Could" is any indication of the rest of the EP, we are sure in for a beautiful treat of sound.
