With Confidence has released a new album, Love and Loathing. The album was released on August 10th, 2018, it’s a pop punk album. The album itself is a hit.
With Confidence started in 2012 and they have grown since then. The band has two past members Samuel Hayes, who was announced as no longer being a part of the band on January 8th, 2014, and Luke Rockets who was kicked out of the band after sexual allegations were made against him in November of 2017. The band now consist of Jayden Seeley (vocalist,bassist), Inigo Del Carmen (guitarist,backing vocalist), and Joshua Brozzesi (drummer). The band started off with an EP named Youth that was released in 2013, their second EP was released in 2015 named Distance. The band was signed to Hopeless Records on January 4th, 2016. They then released Better Weather on June 17th, 2016. On October 18th, 2016 they released an acoustic version of "Voldemort", and another version with John Floreani from Trophy Eyes. After the Luke Rockets incident the band took a little break. Then they came back swinging with this new album.
The album seems to follow a relationship that really took a toll on Jayden. There are some songs that look at the bright side of the relationship and some that look at the dark times. There are hopeful moments and some a little desperate, but the songs and moments in them bring the album together. The song "That Something" looks at the bright side with lyrics like, "I think I found that something/ I think I’ll finally breathe right in/ I think I feel that love, I won’t give up/ I think you soaked into my skin/ So much has come from nothing/ I think I found that something." "Bruise" looks at the tough parts of the relationship with lyrics like, "So fire up at the little things/ We’re caught up in the webs we weave/ Then we pluck on the smallest string/ We’re pressing on our bruise just to feel something/ In the night you walked out again/ And the light with the yellow tinge/ Your goodbyes, they never meant a thing/ We’re pressing on our bruise just to feel something." These songs bring the album a sense of feeling.
The whole album stands out, it’s a great album. Some of my favorites are "Jaded", "Bruise", and "Dopamine". "Jaded" stands out to me because it’s Jayden saying he’s trying his best and he still doesn’t think it’s going to work out because she doesn’t think he’s doing enough. "I missed your call again/ It really made me feel like shit/ You day there’s reasons for believing this is worth the risk/ You keep complaining that I’m never checking up on you/ Like squares to circles I’m certain we can’t make it through". These lyrics point out what Jayden is feeling. "Bruise" sticks out to me because it tells us that they are fighting for the smallest of reasons. "So let go of me/ And everything we should of seen/ And you’ll go and be everything you need to be/ And I honestly wish I could say I’ve let you go". These lyrics show that they’ve separated because of their differences and Jayden is trying to let go and let her live her life. "Dopamine" sticks out because it’s Jayden admitting that he needs her in his life. "Here I am, once again/ Running low on oxygen/ Cause you’re the air I’m breathing/ You were all that I believe in". This lyric shows Jayden admitting his need for her.
This album relates to others by this artist because it shows the emotions of the artist and it puts everything in the open. This album is a really good listen and everyone should go listen to it. It’s 10/10. With Confidence deserves all of the love and I can’t wait to see where they go next.
