Bring Me the Horizon Returns! "MANTRA" Out Now!

Bring Me The Horizon are back with a new single ‘MANTRA’.

Bring Me The Horizon is a band originally from Sheffield, England, UK. The band was formed in 2004 and currently consists of members Oli(ver) Sykes on vocals, Jordan Fish on keyboard, Lee Malia on lead guitar, Matt(hew) Nicholls on drums and Matt Kean on bass guitar. The band currently have five albums released and one on its way.

Bring me the horizon have come back and have definitely brought back new sounds for their new music. In "MANTRA" you can definitely hear some aspects of their recent album That’s The Spirit but they have also brought in some new sounds that definitely did not disappoint. Fans have definitely shown their love for the song as it has 2,965,400+ listens on Spotify and the music video has 1,946,900+ views on Youtube, along with a lot of positive comments on the video

I want to start by talking about the song in general and then move onto the music video. The songs intro is one of the things that makes the song so catchy, the intro is just repeating itself before we hear Oli Sykes’ voice for the first time in the new era of Bring Me The Horizon. Oli’s voice in this song is very soft to begin with and it brings "Oh No" vibes with it. The lyrics are put together in a nice way, as if this song is actually telling a story, possibly a story from one of the members lives or maybe just something they thought of. Oli Sykes has said that his divorce inspired some of the lyrics on the upcoming album Amo and if you keep that thought in mind, "MANTRA" has some hints towards divorce. I personally enjoy songs that have a personal meaning to the band because the members play the song with much more passion and emotion and it makes that moment stick in your head because you can see that the song means something special to them.

The guys definitely went all out with the music video for MANTRA. It gives off creepy vibes, but once I started watching it I was intrigued. It is definitely a very odd but interesting music video. It also gave me some 1940’s vibes with the television in the beginning. Oli has definitely changed his look a lot for this new era and I think it suits him. The music video shows Oli starting up a cult by singing "MANTRA" to them in a theatre looking area and it shows more and more people turning up. It also shows Oli giving someone a therapy session and leaves the person looking quite scared or sad. It shows Oli in the end laying on the floor supposedly dead with a bottle of pills in his hand. There is soon a new cult leader and she hands everyone one of the pills Oli took and tells them to take it. In the end all cult members and leader are struck by lightning and are all unconscious on the floor, with an ending scene of Oli smirking in his casket. The music video is a roller coaster but it is definitely worth the watch if you have the time to watch it, I highly suggest you do!
