Pont is a kicking, thrashing punk rock two piece featuring Jason (vocals and guitar) and Tim (drums). With their breakthrough album, Something Stunning, we hear fast paced, scream-until-your-nose-bleeds sounds. Even upon first listen, heavy influences of early nineties garage rock are prevalent. You can compare their style to "Bleach" by Nirvana. My only note is that, at times, their sound is juvenile with its antisocial rock and roll approach and lackluster recording quality. They're lyrics are more Dead Kennedys with their socially and politically sensitive topics. They touch on such important issues, like police brutality and fascism. Some of my favorite tracks from this album are, the title track, "Something Stunning" (8/10), "Kings and Queens" (9/10), and "You Like It" (6/10). They all sound so…explosive! From their combustible instrumentals and punch-in-the-face lyrics, Pont certainly has an explosive quality. In Conclusion, be prepared for a Pont come-up story. Now, you can find their music on Soundcloud, but give it a few years. You'll hear their music on your Spotify playlists and all over the punk radio stations. At the best of times, Pont is the politically conscious, early nineties nostalgia punk duo we all need in our lives. At the worse, their sounds can be underproduced and their lyrics simple. But hey, they still have a ways to go in their musical journey and I, for one, am excited to see what comes next for Pont.
