Extreme rock band Leaving Eden brings a heavy yet melodic style to the rock scene. The band includes Eve (vocals) and Eric Gynan (guitar, bass, vocals). This duo works well together in creating a rock sound that reminds me of a combination of bands such as Evanescence and Megadeth. Their latest single release, “Jailbreak”, brings out the badass nature of the band.
The song opens with a melodic guitar lick, and is complemented by heavy drums. Eve provides excellent vocals, reminding me of singers such as Amy Lee and Lita Ford. “Jailbreak” is sure to make any listener hyped up and feel like a badass. The talk about someone breaking out of jail and all hell breaking gives a feeling of anticipation and excitement. There are also plenty of opportunities for guitar and drum solos, specifically about halfway through the song when Eve says “breakout” and we get an awesome breakdown of guitar and drums that give a deeper element to the song.
I really enjoyed the heavy style that Leaving Eden creates in “Jailbreak”, and while I have never really listened to extreme rock before, I can see myself listening to them in the future. I like that they have a female front for their band, as it isn’t something I see very often in heavier genres of music. I would definitely recommend listening to “Jailbreak”, and keep an eye out for the band’s next album “Descending”, which will be released October 19th, 2018.
