Soothing Single: Misty Eyed "Attila"

Picture taken from their Facebook page

Misty Eyed, a rock/alternative band from Atlanta, GA, are tearing it up on their newest song “Attila” which is set to release on October 2nd. The song comes off the soon to be released EP Eurydice, coming out November 9th. The band consists of Megan Burke (vocals), John Eck (guitar), Wes Powell (bass), and Zach Nall (drums). The band is influenced by a variety of artists, such as Panic! At the Disco, Five Finger Death Punch, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, and many more, spanning a wide variety of rock and time. One thing I'm interested in, not really related to their music, if why Zach is wearing a mask? I'm intrigued by this band already.

One thing I love about this band and this song, is the simple fact that the band is female fronted. We don’t see too many female fronted bands in the alternative scene (unless you know some great ones, in which case, let me know!). Sure, we have Paramore, PVRIS, Against the Current, and few others, but still. So, I’m already loving hearing a female kill it! Her vocals are soothing to me. Her voice is not rough or high pitched, just a soothing normal tone. Not going to lie, when I saw the song title, I thought it was going to be a play off the band Attila and be some sort of heavy music. It’s not, it’s more like s soft rock sound. I’m truly digging it. Her voice is something that just draws me in. It’s almost perfect in a way? How? I’m not sure, but there is something about how she holds her voice at a pretty constant tone and how she holds her note that just makes it seemingly flawless. I also love how the instrumentals are not loud and in your face. In a lot of rock music, instrumentals are loud, making the vocals louder. This song is quiet and entertaining. The instrumentals back her vocals well. There’s really not a whole lot going on in the song, yet at the same time there is. It’s simple, yet beautiful. I truly dig this song. I cannot wait for it to be released and for you to hear it!

Overall, I think the song is pretty great. I’m interested in hearing the EP. Check out Attila here and show them some love on their socials!
