Guitar Riffs and EDM? J.E.F.F. II "Sleepless"

French artist J.E.F.F. II is a composer, guitarist, and music producer based out of Los Angeles, CA. Jeff grew up in Paris and started playing guitar at age thirteen upon hearing Jimi Hendrix's "Axis Bold As Love" and Guns N' Roses "Appetite for Destruction". He played at some big name theaters in France, but after a while moved to California in 2016. He is currently a session or touring guitarist. He released his own single "Sleepless" in July of 2018. Jeff plans on releasing his debut EP Until the Morning Light later in 2018. His sound has been described as a mix of EDM and rock. By listening to "Sleepless", I totally can hear that. The song has no lyrics, just a few words said in the song. It's a purely instrumental song, with a mix of electronic sound and killer rock guitar riffs. I could hear this song playing at a club in the future, it's something fun and something I could dance to. With the technological sounds leading you up to a guitar solo, you're bound to get hyped up. From his guitar solo, you can tell he was influenced by Hendrix. It's a pretty sick guitar solo. I think the blending of these two, seemingly opposite, genres is incredible. He does it so flawlessly. There's nothing awkward about it, or nothing that seems out of place. The music flows together well and the transitions from more of the EDM sound, to the rock is flawless. Jeff did an excellent job producing the song, making the song flow. Even though I'm a huge fan of lyrics, I think the lack of lyrics here is an excellent choice. I get to fully appreciate the instrumentals. If the song had lyrics, I don't think it would have flowed as well, or sounded as nice. I think the guitar solo would've been overshadowed, and the other instrumentals would have been lost.

In all honesty, this is not a bad song in the slightest. I like it a lot. It's not something that I would typically listen to, but I'll make this song an exception. It's so well put together and I like it a lot. I'm excited to hear more from Jeff in the future.
