The band Sarah and the Safe Word have released a new single along with a music video. The band consist of Sarah Rose (vocals), Kienan Dietrich (guitar), Susy Reyes (violin), Courtney Varner (viola), Beth Ballinger ( keys), Maddox Reksten ( bass), and Sam Freeman ( percussion). The single is "Red Hot and Holy", it was released on September 21st, 2018. This single is a really great song.
This whole song stands out. The way the rhythm and lyrics flow together. The way the video goes right along with the song. The way you can tell just what the artist wants to get through to us in the song. In a interview Sarah describes the song as, “being about struggling to find a space for yourself in a culture that so frequently denies young adults the opportunity to grow and blossom - whether it’s in their identity, sexuality, spirituality, or aesthetic. This is me saying, ‘Let me breathe, let me love, let me be touched how I want to be.’” This song relates to other songs by the artist because it has a meaning to them that they are conveying and the lyrics just brings it across with no doubts. I believe this song says that the next releases will continue to be something close to the band and something people will connect with.
My overall opinion of this single is it’s great. I love the way it flows and how it’s calming. This song is a powerful message letting everyone know it’s okay to be you and need some time to themselves. I hope to see more songs like this. I also hope to see them evolve, and grow as artist. I think their future releases will be just like this one a real good jam. They will keep releasing things that you can’t help but want to listen to.
