When Thieves Are About are a pop-punk/melodic hardcore band from Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and consist of Alfredo Diaz (lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist), Ryan Struck (lead vocalist and bassist), Mike Greene (backup vocalist and lead guitarist), and Josh Smith (drummer). The band came to be with the inspiration of other bands such as NOFX, Boys Night Out, Blink-182, Green Day, New Found Glory, Weezer, The Beatles and so many more.
The guys themselves show obvious passion for music and love what they do. Their music is amazing and worth the listen. If you are a fan of any of the bands that are an inspiration to them, you can hear that they mixed elements of each band and made it into a unique sound. The unique sound of the band is one of the things that bring fans in, the passion is always evident in their songs and performances and their stage performances are never a let down.
The guys believe that anything can inspire you to write your own music “Anything can inspire you to write something. Whether if it’s a life or music or something that will impact you enough to think of an idea.” Alfredo Diaz also brought up that he feels like he “was just born loving sound. I’ve always loved music since a very young age that I can remember. Fun to me was trying to figure out how to play a song on piano or guitar as a child.”
The guys always bring something new to the table with new music, they are constantly bringing in new elements to their music and it brings in more and more fans, even if they don’t realize it. If you compare their old music to their new music you can clearly hear the difference and I personally love it when you can hear how much a band or musical artist has changed over the years, it’s like hearing the band grow up.
I wish this band all the best for the nearing future and I can’t wait to see how much bigger they will grow! Have fun guys!
