Hazel Bloom is a stylistically unique pop artist. Dave Carlin is the sole member using the stage name of Hazel Bloom. Wanting a name to encompass the continuing bloom of love, nature, and himself, he came up with Hazel Bloom. Hazel Bloom's main goal is to create an infectious sound that brings out varying emotions. In his latest EP Space Between Words on a Page, he definitely creates this vibe. The EP includes his two previously released singles, "Nobody's Nothing" and "I Loved You, Once", which we wrote about and you can read here. So, when I heard that this EP was coming out, I HAD to listen and share.
The EP has five absolutely stunning songs. "I Loved You, Once" is what got me interested in Hazel Bloom and is a beautiful song. Check out our previous article if you want to know more about my thoughts on the song, but know that I adore it and Hazel Bloom is going to be big one day. His vocals are incredible and soothing. The EP opens with "Royal", automatically catching my attention with a catchy beat and catchy lyrics. Carlin's voice is stunning to say the least. There's something about his voice that's soothing and draws me in to need to hear more. "Royal" only further my love for this artist.
"Nobody's Nothing" is the next song on then EP, one of the previously released singles. the song has a catchy, clap along beat. Something I can imagine would be popular live. The lyrics are catchy and something I think many can relate to. Feeling and thinking too much, but also feeling and thinking too little. To me, it sound like we think too much about events, but we feel too little about ourselves or events. It's something I'm sure many can relate to. Next up is "Lipstick Love". With some name drops for Maroon 5, Jay-Lo, and Marilyn Monroe. Keeping with that catchy vibe, this song is another absolute hit. Each song is catchy with their lyrics and beats, but each one is catchy in its own unique way. No song sounds exactly the same to me. With "Lipstick Love", there seems to be more intensive emotions behind the vocals. It's still soothing to me, but I sense a more high energy vibe and more emotion from Carlin. Especially towards the end when the vocals seem to be on the verge of screaming. Lastly, is "Life." This song seems like a nice wrap up to the EP. Carlin definitely kept his goal of making catchy songs and pulling in listeners. I get a more carefree vibe from this song. The song mentioned being a "fuck up" but life only happens once, so live it. Life is beautiful and I always appreciate a good song that reminds me of this fact. Yeah, not everything is perfect, but life is still beautiful and you only have one life. I think this song is a perfect wrap up with a positive message.
I fell in love with Hazel Bloom the moment I was introduced to "I Loved You, Once" and was completely stoked to see the new EP. Hazel Bloom delivered on his promise to make catchy music for all to enjoy. His voice is like nothing I've heard before. It's so soothing and calming, absolutely stunning. Hazel Bloom is going to blow up some day, and I cannot wait. He definitely deserves more recognition. I will for sure be sharing this with all my friends and hope to see Hazel Bloom in concert soon.
