Ohio-based alternative rock/surf emo band A Cure For Love recently released their single “I Sent You My Ear, Please Respond” as part of Mic1Park’s Smash Hits Vol II compilation album. Founded in a basement by two friends in Canal Winchester, Ohio, A Cure For Love’s style is characterized by melancholy lyrics with energetic instrumentation. They draw inspiration from those fever dreams, their favorite novels, and video games. This is the first song the band has written with their new bassist and drummer. “I Sent You My Ear, Please Respond” is a powerful yet airy track, expertly balancing light, tranquil sounds with large, anthemic peaks.

The pace of this track is impeccable. There’s never any rush to get to the next part or add in different elements. By gently meandering throughout, the song feels open and explorative. With driving, echoey drums and airy, melodic guitar, “I Sent You My Ear, Please Respond” builds to a breakthrough of belting vocals and controlled yet chaotic instrumentation.
