The Hollow Party "Goddess in a Ghost Town" Single Review

Written by Jess Canet

Nashville-based band The Hollow Party released their latest single, “Goddess in a Ghost Town,” on May 10, 2024.  Comprised of members Drew Bostwick on drums, Danny Vinton on bass, Andrew Vendelis on lead guitar, and Quinn Hopkins on rhythm guitar, The Hollow Party sound is evocative of the emo alt rock hits of the 2000s.

“Goddess in a Ghost Town” starts with a bang, high-energy drums and guitar immediately pulling you in. The lyrics, while delivered with a loud and confident energy, describe a heartbreaking situation in which the girl of his dreams has outgrown both their relationship and their small town, and is moving on, leaving everything behind in a “one who got away” story. The instrumentals and vocals blend perfectly together, nothing overpowering each other but instead working together to shape the song’s personality and keep the listener engaged.

“Goddess in a Ghost Town” is the end of an era for The Hollow Party, an homage to the punk records that inspired them growing up. Going forward, the band plans to shift their focus to songs that inspire others. The single is a banger finale to their previous sound, sure to be a repeat play on my playlist, and we can’t wait to see what they release next.
