Northwest Indiana-based alternative rock band Nothing Spectacular dropped their debut single “If Hell Would Have Me” today, May 31st, 2024. The band was formed by long-time music collaborators TJ Cichon (drums), Sam Kirmani (vocals), and Jackson Spanburg (guitar). Nothing Spectacular pulls influences ranging from 80s rock and new-wave to modern artists like Dayseeker and The Band Camino. Altogether reflective and cathartic, “If Hell Would Have Me” pairs compelling lyrics with a boundless, explosive sound.
This track gradually opens, building on soft instrumentals before Cichon ignites driving drums. The pace is expertly crafted, balancing between energetic peaks and open, breathable verses. Kirmani’s vocals follow suit, naturally weaving between controlled and impassioned. Spanburg adds melodic guitar riffs and takes center stage for a cosmic, sweeping solo. “If Hell Would Have Me” is an impressive, fiery debut track. Nothing Spectacular creates a distinctive alt rock sound that’s sure to stand out in the Chicagoland music scene.
