FKA Climate "An Earnest Youth" EP Review

Written by Summer Knite

FKA Climate, a.k.a. Travis Austin, released their debut EP, An Earnest Youth, at the very beginning of this year. The project features five tracks total, with each one showcasing Austin’s unique songwriting and production abilities. The first two tracks, “Off” and “On and Off” display a spacey, mellow indie sound that highlights some great vocals and production.

The EP keeps listeners on their toes, though; the third track, “Personal Effect” is a noisy punk rock-esque track that completely changes the direction of the EP, while still keeping Austin’s personal factors on full display. “Chaos Style” expands upon this sound by bringing the low end to the front of the track. “No Autobiography” ends the project off with energetic, off-beat drums and an electronic-infused piano.

An Earnest Youth showcases FKA Climate’s unique songwriting style, as well as a mix of genres and sounds that is noteworthy for anybody keeping up with the indie scene.
