Frontega Self-Titled Album Review

Written by Demi Marshall

Chicago-based emotionally charged rock band Frontega recently dropped their debut self-titled album. Consisting of Ryan Sobie, Jeremy Adams, Zach Swearingen, and Brannon Duffin, the band taps into influences such as Deftones, Title Fight, Balance and Composure, and Blue Öyster Cult. With emotive vocals, driving drums, and sweeping guitar, Frontega’s album provides an impressive, full sound.

“Jaguar/Raptor” is altogether contemplative and cathartic. Starting out with a steady pace, the song builds into an unrestrictive sound. Soft, intentional vocals evolve into impassioned vocal cries, which is mirrored instrumentally. “Return Address” feels light and airy, the guitar and drums providing a melodic feel. The vocals meander throughout, like someone telling a story. “screw the HOA, i wanna play tennis” picks up the pace, featuring sweeping guitar and heavy drum fills. Frontega has outdone themselves with this debut album, and we look forward to their future releases.
