Glass-Beagle "Spring Sword Chatter" EP Review

Written by Demi Marshall

Chicago-based genre blending band Glass-Beagle dropped their debut EP Spring Sword Chatter today, May 24th, 2024. The band is delivering their uniquely mangled mix of country, folk, power pop, and rock ‘n’ roll straight to the masses. This five-piece outfit is built around the sweet sounds of pedal steel guitar, the late sixties country-rock boom, and the energy of a rock ‘n’ roll barnstorm. Spring Sword Chatter is a sweeping, tranquil release, naturally weaving between moments of homegrown folk and energized rock.

Opening with the EP’s title track, feathery drums and melodic, twangy guitar ease listeners into the airy soundscape. The song feels open, boundless, and fully immersive. “Waiting for the Lizard” switches gears, channeling the band’s rock influence. Breaking through with crashing drums and steely guitar riffs, the song pushes driving energy to its close. “I Saw Field’s Santa 2004” creates a compelling blend of folk and rock, meandering between soft and powerful

elements. Altogether hazy and striking, Spring

Sword Chatter showcases Glass-Beagles'

distinctive sound and style.
