Grey Slush "Out of Touch" EP Review

Written by Summer Knite

Peoria, IL indie rock group Grey Slush’s newest EP, Out of Touch, released earlier this month. The EP contains five tracks by the group. Each track utilizes unique production and sound design to put a new twist on the sound of underground indie.

Many of these songs are paced slowly and feel like large buildups to climaxes that make it all worth it. The beautiful chorus of “Spare Key” is a perfect example; the verses of the song are understated and use a variety of effects and sounds, before the song’s guitars fully kick in and it explodes into a beautiful wall of sound. “Stare at the Ceiling” is also notable for its recognizable 90s influence, as well as its wonderful lead guitar work. The closing song, “We Will Get it Right,” brings all the project’s strengths together for a powerfully developed final statement.
