Hollow Head "Porcelain" Single Review

Written by Summer Knite

Denver duo Hollow Head released their single “Porcelain” in October 2022. The track features a quaint acoustic guitar, melancholy lyrics about a failing relationship, and powerfully pained vocals. Hannah Wyatt also offers a feature on the track, and she blends into the energy of the song beautifully.

“Porcelain” begins with droning, soft synth noise and soft electric guitar before the acoustic guitar and vocals enter. The first chorus of the track is soft and subdued, which transitions into a louder second verse. The song continues this sonic trajectory, with the backing instrumentation becoming more intense and powerful. The vocals also grow in power as the song ramps up. A minimalistic and creative electric guitar solo transitions into Hannah Wyatt’s beautiful verse, before the song ends with one final chorus, featuring layers of both vocalists.

Hollow Head demonstrates a beautiful understanding of dynamics here, as well as a knack for the melancholy lyrics that a track like this needs. The Denver duo has a bright future with this alternative folk sound.

Keep up with Hollow Head:
