Killium "Dirty Rotten (Dirty)" Single Review

Northwest Indiana-based alt rock band Killium just dropped their latest single “Dirty Rotten (Dirty)." This is the first single release off the band’s upcoming second LP Manifesting Flies. Killium began as a solo project, but in 2020 transitioned to a trio featuring the talent of Jonas Wald (vocals/bass), Ryan Manson (guitar), and Kyle Krawczyk (drums). This track depicts the idea that humanity has evolved past itself, allowing their inventions (and by extension, their inventors) to become their masters. This relates to living a life on something like social media rather than the outside world. This commanding, resolute single erupts with energy and persists to its close, radiating a bold, no bullshit attitude.

I’ve listened to Killium since the first release, and this is some of their greatest work. Produced by Alex Gonzalez, the quality and balance of the mix is excellent. Krawczyk storms the track with thunderous drums as Wald leads the charge with crafted, ranting vocals. Manson steers us out with a wild, fiery guitar solo. “Dirty Rotten (Dirty)” is a dissentient, frenzied punk track, criticizing a modern world that’s far out of touch. As this release ushers in the next era of Killium, the band remains indispensable to the alt rock scene, raging both live shows and playlists.
