Nashville-based alt-rocker Lunchbox Rachel recently released a new single “Timelines.” After learning to record and produce her own music, she’s found her true sound as an artist. With earnest lyrics and rock style bursting with energy, Lunchbox Rachel storms the alternative scene with powerful, belting vocals. “Timelines” is an authentic, blazing anthem about pressure to succeed in your 20s.
The song opens with quick-paced drums and spoken vocals. Volume and intensity build with emotions rising, and the chorus kicks open, “With my car from nineteen ninety-nine/And my clothes out of season/My roots are all grown out/I can’t believe I’m peaking.” Rachel expresses frustration with not having life perfected by your 20s. Her vocals are the leading force in the song– breaking through like a punch then wailing with passion, dynamic and commanding.
The chorus continues, “Keep starin’ at people’s lives online/Comparing their sunsets to my sunrise/When I know, when I know deep inside/We’ve all got our own timelines.” These compelling lyrics touch on the modern habit of comparing ourselves to media or influencers. “Timelines” pushes high energy until its close, and we’re inspired to break the mold.
Lunchbox Rachel is charging through the alt-rock scene, set to release an EP this spring. She also has an upcoming show at Springwater Dive in Nashville with michiana-based band The Erly on June 2nd. Check it out if you’re in the area!
