Passed Out, Curbside released their project Baggage in July of this year. The band hails from Marquette, MI, and have a gritty grunge sound to call their own. The album is a strong showing of the band’s style and performances. The guitar work on the project is very unique; often, layers build on top of each other to create a huge and full sound.
The opening track of the album, “Coffee Stains,” is a slow burner of a song; the track begins with soft guitar and melancholy lyrics, before building up to a massive climax at the end. “Lighthouse (Self Doubt)” features a groovy, tight bass groove that leads into layers of guitars all building on each other, providing for an incredibly satisfying final chorus. “Final Boss” ends the project beautifully, with powerful vocals delivering the emotional climax of the project.
PO,C do a great job of keeping a consistent sound throughout the whole project, while still allowing each song to stand strongly on its own. Great dynamic building, relatable lyrics, and fantastic performances on all instruments make this record worth a listen for any indie or grunge fan.
