Artist of the Week: UK-based rock band Passive Fix
For fans of bands like Sleep Token, Nothing But Thieves, Bad Omens, and Twenty One Pilots, Passive Fix creates an ambitious music style. Founded by Alex McCarthy (songwriter, vocals, saxophone), the band became fully formed in 2022 at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, now including David Kirkham (drums) and Sam Stringer (guitars, backing vocals). Passive Fix balances flowing, compelling vocal lines, sophisticated saxophone melodies, and aggressive guitars. The band has multiple national headline and support shows under their belt, continuing to fearlessly push boundaries in a live setting.
Song of the Week: Lockjaw by Passive Fix
Aiming to call out transphobia, homophobia, and misogyny through a conversation with someone’s conscience, “Lockjaw” maintains a pop sensibility with moments of intermittent, unreserved rage. The track features a range of musical elements from soaring vocals, saxophone melodies, and crunching guitar lines. “Lockjaw” drips with defiance through the band’s driving rock sound and authentic, no bullshit attitude.
