New York-based pop punk band Persei dropped their new single “Not Okay” today, March 8th, 2024. This is the first release off their debut full-length album What’s Left Inside, which is set to release in the spring of 2024. Persei features the talents of Jonathan Cutrona (vocals/guitar), Mike Maldarelli (vocals/guitar), Nick Millus (guitar), Andrew Maino (bass) and Sergio Gorno (vocals/drums). Pulling from their diverse musical backgrounds, the band incorporates various elements from the broader alt genre to create their distinctly multifaceted, emo-leaning sound.
Altogether candid and nuanced, “Not Okay” is a compelling reflection on the pressures of adulthood, emanated through a classic pop punk style. With driving drums, light, ambient guitar riffs, and impassioned, layered vocals, the track is stirring and evocative. “Not Okay” invites listeners to take in the complex realities and emotions of progressing deeper into adulthood.
