Artist of the Week: Pure Intention
Pure Intention is a three piece band from Chicago, IL. The band formed in 2020 and consists of Joe Oesterreich (bass/vocals), Tim Chavez (guitar/vocals), and John Bogusz (drums/vocals). During 2022, Pure Intention was nominated for best punk band by Chicago Reader. The band is currently demoing songs for a potential upcoming album, but their song "George Jesterson" is out now off their EP No S***!.
Song of the Week: George Jesterson- Pure Intention
The song "George Jesterson" is pure punk music. It's nitty and gritty, everything you love in a punk song. The vocals are loud and passionate, scratchy and a bit whiny, exactly what you expect from this style. The instrumentals, especially the guitar solo, are fast and upbeat. The song and video combined are reminiscent of old school punk. The music video was made by DePaul film students. It's fun, random, and goofy. Music videos seem far too serious anymore. This reminded me of old 2000's music videos when they were just fun. It was clearly people just having a great time making a video/music together. I absolutely adore the intro and outro with the members just talking and joking around. I think it's the perfect match for a song that’s lively and old school.
I can see why Pure Intention was nominated for best punk band of 2022. The band has a ton of potential with classic punk vocals and an upbeat attitude. They'll be climbing charts before we know it. If anyone out there is looking for a new band that channels classic punk, Pure Intention is sure to satisfy.
