PVRIS Single Reviews

PVRIS is possibly one of the most iconic new age bands. Lynn has been known for her beautiful belty voice and powerful lyrics, which shot them up in popularity really fast. Recently PVRIS announced their upcoming album Evergreen, set to release July 14, 2023. So far they've released four singles from the upcoming album; "Good Enemy," "Goddess," "Animal," and "Anywhere But Here."

Out of the four singles, I gotta say "Goddess" is my favorite. It feels like classic PVRIS, with powerful lyrics and Lynn's strong, emotional voice. A song about empowering women and femininity is so refreshing with the crazy times we're in. I absolutely love the catchy outro to the song, "Dance goddess dance/ It's hypnotic, it's a trance/ I said, dance goddess dance/ It's your body, fuck the man." The song's upbeat tempo makes you want to dance and celebrate. The song is beautifully done and definitely gets the message across to celebrate yourself while giving you the best to do so. Lynn never seems to miss the mark with her upbeat songs and killer vocals to match.

"Good Enemy" is the newest single that was released March 30, 2023. The song is shorter than usual, at just over 2 minutes. Even though the song is relatively short, it still gets the message across and gives you something to dance along to. It's short, simple, and to the point which I personally love. Because the song is shorter, the tempo is faster in more of a hyper-pop vibe. Which is great for dancing to, and seems to be the general idea and vibe for most of the songs. PVRIS has pushed a bit away from the alternative scene to more of a pop scene and it's caused some to not like their newest music. I think this song is a good example of pushing more towards that pop sound but it's done really well and still feels very PVRIS.

"Animal" is another upbeat song that makes me excited for the upcoming album. It also has a powerful message of not being controlled by anyone or anything and breaking through the constraints others put on you. It's definitely a bop to feel powerful to. Lynn kills it as always. She's always had a very powerful and belty voice that makes screaming along to her songs an absolute joy.

Overall, the songs make me look forward to the upcoming album. I wasn't a huge fan of the last album so it's refreshing to look forward to the next album. It shows growth while also being very much old PVRIS vibes. Be sure to check out the album in July!
