Chicago-based energetic punk band Routine Fuss released their latest EP Live, Laugh, Fuss in December, 2023. The EP’s single release “Headass” centers around struggling with the idea of living up to expectations, whether set by yourself or those around you, and coming to grips that getting sober doesn’t magically solve all your problems. As a whole, Live, Laugh, Fuss focuses heavily on embracing your flaws and improving what you can without putting too much worry towards your own imperfection.
“Headass” is definitely my favorite track. Opening the EP with steady contemplation, the song grows until it bursts with energy, featuring catchy guitar riffs, impassioned vocals, and driving drums. “I’d Rather Be Over Here” is dripping with punk sound. Weighty vocals take center stage while gritty guitar and crashing drums drive the track to its peak. Overall, Live, Laugh, Fuss is a well-produced collection, leaving a memorable impression on the Chicago music scene.
