Nashville-based indie rock band Safari Room dropped their new single “Blunderbuss” yesterday, June 20th. Detailing the push and pull of hook-up culture, this single explores the alluring nature of going home with someone at the end of the night through feverish dance elements and crooning, low register vocals. “Blunderbuss” creates a shimmering blend of rock and pop elements, altogether smooth, bright, and mesmerizing.
By gradually adding elements in the background, “Blunderbuss” features a gorgeous, hazy build. Captivating vocals invite us into the story as syncopated drums and bass take shape. Nearing the end, groovy guitar chimes before one last chorus signals a soft close. Safari Room steps outside of their typical lyricism and sounds in this single, acting as a fresh look into where the band is taking their upcoming third album.
