Safety Society "No Comment" EP Review

Chicago punk rockers Safety Society’s newest EP, No Comment, released on November 3rd, 2023. The project has a fantastic youthful, grungy energy that people love to see in punk bands. The production makes it feel like the listener is in a basement at the best punk show in town, with the acoustic chorus on M.E.D. being a great sing-along.

The EP contains four songs, and its total runtime clocks in at just over ten minutes- all killer, no filler. Each instrument gets moments to shine in this short runtime; Mortuary contains some great lead guitar work, and a huge portion of Dream of You is dedicated to electrifying drum solos. Michigan is the songwriting highlight; the song has a unique structure, shows off fantastic work on the bass, and boasts a dynamic instrumental

to make it a perfect closer for this EP. Safety Society

has an incredibly strong dynamic together, and this

project shows that they have the songwriting chops

to turn heads and grow their reputation.
