Safety Society "No Comment" Review

Chicago-based pop punk band Safety Society dropped their latest release “No Comment: An Introduction” in early June. After taking a short break from shows to finish their album, the band is back and ready to start some mosh pits. This two track release is energetic and loud, capturing the essence of a live performance.

“Chest Pains” breaks through with quick drums and guitar and punk vocals/shouts. An abrupt musical break midway through feels like we’ve reached the end of the song. However, drums build back up and the band continues where they left off. The phrase, “And I love it/And I hate it” is shouted repeatedly until the song’s close.

“Queens Dead” builds on the energy stirred up in the first track. Shouted background vocals create a classic pop punk sound. Driving guitar and drums lead to another instrumental break midway through, cut only with brief spoken vocals, before continuing through the end. Safety Society creates an authentic pop punk sound that’s sure to excite a crowd.
