Store Brand "The Oversight" Single Review

Written by Cheyenne Davey

Store Brand is an independent, one man band from Long Island. He released his first EP Soul Sucker in 2021 at just 19 years old. Six months later, he followed up with the second EP Sewn Together. Now he’s coming back into the music scene after a short year break with their newest single "The Oversight." Written, produced, and mastered all by the man himself, Store Brand also plays every instrument. If there's one thing to say about Store Brand, it's that he’s dedicated and insanely talented to the solo project. It is truly impressive.

It's hard to believe a single person put together such a good song. "The Oversight" is such a classic punk/garage banger. You can hear the influence of classic punk but with a more modern sound. The song is simple yet effective in getting you to headbang and dance around screaming about being fed up with "the man." Nothing's more punk than taking a stand against corporations. The best part of the song is by far the guitar riff at about 1:45. It’s so good it gives you goosebumps. The only complaint about this song is that it's far too short. Sitting at just over 2 minutes, I get bummed it's over so soon. But short duration allows the song to get straight to the point, never dragging along a message or making noise just to be longer. It's short and sweet.

Overall, I really enjoy the song and I'm thrilled to see what Store Brand releases next. Nothing hits as nice as some classic punk vibes. Store Brand is bound to continue on to do great things with as much skill as he has. I'm super impressed by the sheer level of talent and cannot wait to hear more.

Keep up with Store Brand:
