Nashville-based bassist and songwriter Sylvia Rose Novak recently dropped her single “Broad Strokes.” This track acts as a jumping off point for a fresh style change. Novak’s music has taken a new avenue from the Americana genre to pop-sensible rock, taking cues from bands like Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab for Cutie. 

“Broad Strokes” is an impassioned, lucid track. Novak’s vocals are altogether emphatic and cordial, evoking feelings of frustration and apathy. Driving guitar and basslines push a consistent energy as dynamic drums create a full sound. With interesting rhythms and a catchy chorus, Novak creates a compelling, distinctive style.
