Artist of the Week: tenmonthsummer
Chicago-based lakeshore emo band tenmonthsummer recently dropped their latest single “for you, when i’m long gone.” Blending the lyric confessionalism of emo and pop punk from the 2010s with sweeping tones of shoegaze, the band pays homage to bands that inspired them while also creating a distinctive style. Despite their relatively short time together, the band has achieved remarkable success through their DIY efforts, captivating audiences at household Chicago venues like Subterranean, Beat Kitchen, and Bottom Lounge. The band is putting on their own emo music festival called Bummer Summer on June 29th in Chicago, so be sure to get your tickets here.
Song of the Week: “for you, when i’m long gone” by tenmonthsummer
“for you, when i’m long gone” is a blazing, dynamic track. Bursting with upbeat energy and contemplative lyrics, this style takes cues from classic emo/pop punk. Driving drums energize the pace, creating a powerful, no-stops track. Melodic guitar riffs complement these instrumentals. Altogether vibrant and captivating, tenmonthsummer spins a refreshing sound on Chicago’s favorite midwest emo sounds.
