The Now- "Devil Inside Me" Single Review

Welsh band The Now released their brand new single “Devil Inside Me” on February 17th, 2023, starting off the year with killer guitar riffs and a grungy vibe. The Now are sure to dominate 2023 with their upcoming full-length album, produced by Oli Jacobs (The 1975, Harry Styles), set to release this summer. Previously, The Now was praised for having “the coolest song in the world” by SiriusXM's Little Steven's Underground Garage, and this single is no different. "Devil Inside Me" is sure to keep your attention and be stuck in your head.

There's always a lot going on in the alternative music scene. Seemingly every day there's a new band or song and it's truly hard to keep up. Bands have to come up with something catchy to get the attention of the masses and keep it. The Now does that and more. Having never heard them before, this song definitely draws my attention and makes me a fan. The Now does what they want and it makes their music interesting by varying up the sound, no two songs are the same. They’re reminiscent of Palaye Royale with a modern take on older rock vibes.

The instrumentals are by far the best part of the song. The best is in the beginning with the groovy sounding guitar building up to the drums coming in, followed by the lyrics. The guitar is genuinely so catchy and keeps my head bobbing along the entirety of the song. The sound is consistent throughout. It’s also fun at the end of the song when the drums mimic the “ah-ah” outro. It wraps up the song nicely and leaves you feeling satisfied. Overall, The Now brings a refreshing grungy vibe in their latest track. As an alternative rock band, it's nice to hear them vary it up a bit with something new.
