The Region "New Era" Single Review

Pop punk/emo trio The Region dropped their latest single “New Era.” Hailing from the outskirts of Chicago, The Region features Jake Cyprian (vocals/guitar), Phil Cyprian (bass/vocals), and Jon De St. Jean (drums). This single hit the ground running into 2023, paving the way for a fresh era while building on The Region’s signature homegrown pop punk style.

“New Era” brings upbeat energy out the gate. Breaking through with strong, clear vocals declaring, “This is a new era/I am not giving up/I haven’t had enough.” These lyrics set a positive tone that carries through the song. Quick tempos of crashing drums and melodic guitar create a classic pop punk sound, reminiscent of artists like Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, and Neck Deep. This single presents the energy of a live performance. Listening to it feels like being at a local show- the crowd pressed tightly together, a mosh pit forming as everyone sings along. To anyone chasing the nostalgic unity of a live pop punk show, “New Era” is your remedy.

This single is an excellent addition to The Region’s already impressive, well-rounded discography. They’re one of our favorite local bands, and it’s always a pleasure listening to their music. As I noted in our 2019 review of their EP “Everything I’ve Got,” the band continues to grow lyrically, stylistically, and in production quality. The Region sets a high standard for all in the pop punk/emo music scene.

Keep up with The Region:
