Newly formed Chicago rock band Vang! released their latest single “Bad Girl” on May 1st with a music video to match. It’s one of two singles currently released by the band. The first, "Demona 666," is a brief but emphatic punk hit. “Bad Girl” expands on this style with fast tempos and shouted lyrics, channeling artists like Bikini Kill and Joan Jett. Vang! breaks through the Chicago music scene with tough, misfit vitality, and a modern take on classic punk rock.
“Bad Girl” kicks open with power, featuring short verses between catchy, repeated chants. Midway through we get a bit of a breakdown-- Steady drums back layered chants and vocalization, crashing drums and distorted guitar build to a peak. This rowdy, rebellious single exudes a dynamic rock sound and clamorous energy that is sure to stir up a crowd.
The animated music video features a vintage, retro video game style. With bright, pixelated versions of Vang! members Meg, Lucy, J, and Elyse, arcade style battles play out between characters. The video is fun and humorous, so be sure to check it out along with the single.
Keep up with Vang!
