Safari Room "Time Devours All Things" Album Review

Written by Demi Marshall

Nashville-based indie rock band Safari Room dropped their new album Time Devours All Things today, February 23rd, 2024. Safari Room is the indie rock outfit and brainchild of Alec Koukol, who acts as the songwriter/vocalist/guitarist, surrounded by a revolving door of friends and fellow travelers that they call “the village.” Since my review of the single “Blunderbuss,” I’ve been looking forward to this album. Safari Room’s soft, vibrant indie blend is fleshed out to its full potential on this release. With impassioned vocals, dynamic guitar riffs, and a mesmerizing balance of rock and pop elements, Time Devours All Things is a captivating, glowy collection.

“Broken Things” fuses bright vocals, light chimes, and electric guitar that ebb and flow before gradually building to a catchy, indie rock chorus and bridge. “Crease in the Blinds” offers a stripped back feel without sacrificing depth. Piano supports a majority of the track, with glints of light drums and hazy backup vocals that peak with a heavenly, shimmering finish. “Strength to Stand” closes the album with an upbeat, danceable rock feel, bringing together various elements explored in prior tracks. Time Devours All Things builds on Safari Room’s electrifying discography, leaving a fresh, lasting impression on the indie music scene.
